Jo Midgely

Tasman Artist | Painting & Prints

Jo is a self taught artist who specialises in vibrant oil paintings, she loves oils as it is a naturally made medium. She has been painting and drawing as long as she can remember and has always been fascinated by the creative process.

She mainly paints native birds, forests and landscapes all with a New Zealand theme. Her style is quite recognisable because of the use of bokeh lighting, vibrant greens and other earth colours and a fascination with lichens and cobwebs.

Originally from Blenheim, she now lives in Glenhope on a 500 acre sheep and beef farm with her husband and son where she has inspiration for her painting right at her doorstep.

Jo is also a qualified chef working part-time over the summer at a local trout fishing lodge. She loves skiing, horse riding and mountain biking (although not all in the same day). She loves a glass of red wine, 'Life is short, so I only drink the good stuff.’
