Happy New Year! We hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday break, and you’ve been out and about soaking up the best of the NZ summer.
It’s been a busy few months at Protean Art since we opened October 2021. We’re so pleased we can send you an update of what’s in store over the next few months, and also what we’ve been up to since we opened.
Huge Thanks to Our Artists
We would like to thank our wonderful artists who continue to create the most stunning art on display at the gallery. Our customers clearly agree as some of our artworks are now looking beautiful in homes in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, Marlborough, and the Nelson region.

Wine & Art Evening
Featuring a new exhibition of fabulous NZ art
In just over two week’s time, we’re having a Wine & Art evening to celebrate the arrival of some fabulous new work at Protean Art gallery. Guests will be the first to view the new work before it is open to the general public. This event is available to our wonderful newsletter subscribers and invited Protean Art supporters by special invitation only.
If you would like to attend, please r.s.v.p with numbers attending to info@proteanart.co.nz.
There’ll be new artworks on display from Emma Panting, Pattison Parkin, Maxine Burney, Angela Tier, and from new artists to the gallery, Ross Lee and Jeff Lockhart.
Do come and enjoy a range of art which includes figurative, abstract landscape, realist landscape, cubist, mixed media, and ceramics. It’s an evening not to be missed, with wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and nibbles to enjoy in our pleasant courtyard.
We’re a vaccine pass premises and kindly request that all attendees follow the red level setting guidelines.
Challenging Times
We do understand that with the ongoing impact of Covid, and the recent arrival of Omicron in the community, some people may feel unsure about being out and about, visiting galleries, and attending events. At Protean Art, we will still plan events and ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed for the benefit and safety of our customers and staff. We’ll also monitor the Covid situation closely, and will change and postpone events when needed. Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we think at times like this, art plays a significant role in lifting everyone’s spirits, and guiding us through difficult and challenging times.
