Angela Tier

New Zealand artist | Ceramics

Angela Tier has been coiling her way up the ladder of ceramics and is continuing to develop her style in the medium. Tier mainly uses stoneware paper clay in conjunction with coiling and hand-building techniques as well as documentative photographs of specimens, still life and portraits relating to the conversations created within her ceramics.

Graduating from the Quay School of Arts, Whanganui with a distinction in sculpture, Tier’s solo exhibitions include a collection of New Zealand critically endangered birds as ceramic urns, reminding us of the fragility of our native birds and the responsibility to save what we have before they are gone.

She is a frequent entrant in the Whanganui Arts Review at which she received a Highly commended prize for her photographic entry in 2011 and was also accepted into the first Quartz Awards in 2019 and the Uku Clay Awards in Hawkes Bay 2020.
