Adam Marchbank

Nelson artist | Carving

Adam was raised in Otara surrounded by a multicultural community where he picked up many influences that impact his approach to art.

He has experience hand cutting into stone, granite and marble, and was trained by a top Monumental Mason / Letterer at Firth Natural Stone Division, Drury in Auckland where he was hand-cutting and drawing up headstones professionally.

For a few decades, music became a strong influence, drumming and blues harp, before he returned to art. During his musical period, he produced screen-printing and photo positives for Virus Clothing.

He has been trained in the use of profile grinders, diamond blade industrial saws and drills and has made granite benches, splashbacks and vanities for Granite Designworks in Nelson.

He is now exploring the possibilities of expressing himself artistically using the techniques he has learned over the years.
